The Green Tower (Working Title)

Have you ever been in the wrong place at the wrong time? Did disaster strike? Was a responsibility thrust upon you unwarranted? We don’t always ask for the hand we were dealt, but what we do with it can change everything- ourselves…even the world.

Introducing the first book in my next high-fantasy saga: The Lodestar Chronicle! The Green Tower is the book’s current working title and is subject to change.

SYNOPSIS:

Legend says the first war of Hitermina was fought by the gods as they clashed for ownership of the world. The war was stopped only when the goddess gave her own life, her essence covering all the lands and freezing the mighty warriors in time forever. Millenia later, humans now draw their magic from these silent monoliths to use for both good and ill.

In a world divided by magic and politics, self-serving sword-for-hire Baxley Winters is content to work his jobs and keep a low profile, but when he accidently unearths the key to an ancient power lost to time, his world turns upside down. Soon the queen of the kingdom summons him for a top secret mission, which he is reluctant to accept but does so on account of his employer, a woman whom he has a particular interest in.  Their path will lead them to be joined by an orphaned child whose magic abilities ride the frail line of control, and a solemn war veteran bereft of his honor.  Together, they will inadvertently become the nucleus of an international war and take their places on center stage of the storied history of Hitermina.

LEARN MORE:

I am beyond excited to get back to my roots of high fantasy. The decade I took writing my first trilogy, The Eyes of Fate, taught me a lot and I feel ready to dive into my next adventure! I plan to really push myself to make this new world bigger and better than anything I have written before. A deeper magic system, more intriguing characters, a more fleshed out world, and generally, more of what we all love in a fantasy story. I have much of the overarching story outlined already and I’m excited to see where inspiration leads it as it takes on a life of its own during first drafts. I project the series will be somewhere between 4-6 books, each clocking in slightly shorter than the Eyes of Fate books were. That way I can get them to you faster!

Thematically, there will be a lot going on but I really want to ensure that two things are front and center in this story: 1) The feeling of high adventure. With a more complex world, I want this series to be completely immersive and take you places you’ve never been; show you things you’ve never seen before. I really want to have the reader walk in the shoes of the characters and feel like they are there traversing the world with them. And 2) The bond between the four main characters. This is the true heart of the story. Four outcasts are forced to start this journey together and by the end, they are something of a family. I’ve always said that an intricate fantasy world is nothing more than a mirror upon which the characters can reflect against. I want to make the most interesting fictional world possible so that a reader can watch these four broken people walk through it and relate to how they grow and change.

More info will come as the project develops so keep an eye on this page!
